The antibiotics have kicked in and I am almost back among the living. Unfortunately, Legend is suffering from an earache today. We're hoping a little children's Tylenol will help as it usually does. So much news to tell from the last week and a half...I'll break it into pieces.
- BRITISH SOCCER CAMP in St. George finished on the 8th. Legend had an absolute blast and was sorry to see it end. He's wanting to know when the next soccer camp starts. He picked up some dribbling and shooting skills by the end of the week, but like most of the other 4 and 5 year olds didn't have much concept of a team. During the scrimmages most of them figured it was one free for all and the object was to kick the ball into the net which Legend did...for the other team :) He was happy and we cheered just as loudly as if it'd been on the other end of the field.
Most of the kids understood that the lines were the field boundaries, but passing was pretty nonexistent :) I took lots of photos and Legend gave Coach John a CD of his camp kids on the last day. He was thrilled and was showing it off to the other coaches when we left. I'd say the whole week of camp was a tremendous success for Legend. He couldn't wait to get to camp every morning! RING BEARER at the wedding...what a handsome guy! Legend was excited about wearing his tux. He talked about it all week. His Aunt Lauren and I took him to the rehearsal on Friday, the 8th, and he followed instructions to a tee. He knew he had an important job. When we arrived at the wedding on Saturday evening, I showed him from the balcony how he wasn't going to be able to walk along the pond on the patio below like he did at rehearsal. There were chairs there and he would have to walk behind them and then up the aisle. He said he understood. The bride, Shannon, is one of Shayla's friends and I've met her several times. When she found out I would be in St. George that weekend, she invited me to come to the wedding so I wasn't a total wedding crasher and I was so glad to be there to enjoy watching Legend as well as the beautiful wedding. He came around with the wedding party carrying the rings, over the bridge and encountered the chairs. Mmmm...what was it Grandma said??? He decided to cut through one of the rows of guests...people moving their knees as fast as they could...and then up the aisle to the front. Too cute! He was a real party man when it came time for dancing. He danced with his cousin, Lana and then cut loose with a solo...with people standing around the circle watching the show :) All the kids were so adorable and I had loads of fun snapping pictures with my new camera! - OTHER STUFF IN ST. GEORGE Legend and Grandma spent an afternoon at The Splash Pad, we ate dinner at Benja's where Shayla works (who knew a 4 year old would order "the fish that looks like bones"...a whole tilapia with head and fins and eat almost the whole thing?!), we had lunch at the Red Lobster so Legend could order his favorite snow crab legs, we spent an afternoon in Las Vegas at Chuck E. Cheese (where we were able to meet up with Shayla's Dad who was in town) and the Disney Character Warehouse, saw "Surf's Up", played lots of Castle Legos, and Legend had his daily hot cocoa at Starbucks with Grandma.
THE DRIVE HOME.....two nine-hour days in a Beetle with a 4 year old :) Fortunately, Legend is a good traveler and this trip was no exception. I only heard an "Are we there yet?" a few times. He was anxious to get to Montana. He is a thinker and educates me on many topics as we click off the miles. There were 2 favorites this time 1) Fire is the charger of the sun...said after many minutes of quiet thinking and 2) Your toys are playing the whole time you're gone from home. They get back where you left them when you come home...he is a Toy Story fan. I can't even begin to count how many times we played "I Spy With My Little Eye..." but I can tell you if it's green it's a tree, if it's white it's a cloud, and if it's blue it's the sky :) We spent the night at the Driftwood Inn in Idaho Falls and took a short walk to dinner. When I asked if he wanted to go to Applebee's or Chili's for dinner his only concern was that they have shrimp. We went to Applebee's and he almost cleaned up an adult order of buttermilk shrimp. We reached the Montana boundary late the next morning and Legend's first question was "Where's the thing that holds the airplane?" He wanted to see Papa's hangar and he figured if we were in Montana he should see it now. It was a long trip for him the next 7 hours that it took to get to Eureka. He was so happy to see Papa when we got here!
PICKING UP DADDY AT THE TRAIN in Whitefish...the train was a little early and arrived just as we got there. Legend could hardly wait to see Daddy. He rushed right over with a big hug as soon as he spotted Brad.
The three of us had breakfast at IHOP in Kalispell and spent the morning doing a little shopping before heading to Eureka. Legend finally got to see Papa's hangar, but his favorite thing at the airport was playing on the dirt and rock piles :) He was happy to find even bigger piles when we visited our construction site and he loves to play in the "dungeon" under the house :) He's had fun playing at the park, out in the yard with Daddy, doing puzzles, making Father's Day gifts, and playing with his Castle Legos and new pirate ship. We met our friend in Whitefish for lunch yesterday and then took him to see "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer". He loves those super hero movies. The theme tune for the last two weeks has been the Superman Theme...he is continually humming it. I need to remember to catch it on video :) A plane ride is on his agenda, but the weather had not been cooperating. It should be nice again tomorrow so it's planned for tomorrow evening.
There has been major progress on our house since I last shared, but I am tired and ready for bed. I'll save the news and photos for tomorrow night!
